Catholic Schools Week kicks off in Warren

WARREN, Ohio - As part of Catholic Schools Week, there was an open house at John F. Kennedy Catholic's lower campus on Sunday.

President Brian Sinchak says it's important that the past doesn't cast a cloud over the current dedicated teachers and staff.

Sinchak said Today's Teacher Magazine has recognized JFK Catholic Schools as one of the top 12 schools in the nation for innovation, for curriculum and instruction.

Sinchak talked about the foreign language programs being offered next year.

"All of our students will have the ability to study foreign language beginning in Kindergarten all the way through sixth grade. And when they transfer to our upper campus in seventh through our senior year program, they'll be able to continue those classes with live teacher instruction in the classroom," Sinchak said.

Kids were also impressed with the desk top computers in the classrooms.

Some distinguished alumni include Hollywood movie producer Christopher Columbus and businessman Sam Covelli, who owns dozens of Panera Bread and O'Charlie's restaurants.
