YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Former Kansas head football coach Mark Mangino expects to join the Youngstown State football coaching staff.

A source tells Sports Director Dana Balash that Mangino is expected to be officially introduced Friday afternoon.

Officials at YSU announced earlier this week a press conference for Friday, and would only say it was about the football program.

Mangino, a New Castle, Pennsylvania, native was an assistant at YSU under Jim Tressel from 1985-1987.

He was the head coach at Kansas from 2002-2009 and has been out of coaching since resigning.

There were several reports last month that Mangino was going to join Bob Stoops at Oklahoma where he was an assistant in the 90s.
