Boardman Boosters get $100,000 donation for new stadium

Posted: Updated:

BOARDMAN, Ohio - The Boardman Booster Club is working to raise four million dollars to fund a new football stadium.

On Thursday, the Home Savings Charitable Foundation gave the boosters a big boost in the form of a $100,000 donation.

Boardman's current football stadium, by the middle school, was built in the 30s and has a grass field and is not handicap accessible.

The new stadium, which will be on the high school campus, will have artificial turf and would be accessible to every sport and the marching band.

Eight hundred thousand dollars has been raised so far.

"We hope that we can have the turf started and completed next spring and completed sometime in the summer. And then within the next couple years have the balance of the stadium project," said Bill Bonte, President of the Boardman Booster Club.

All of the money to fund the Boardman Stadium project will be by private donations.
