Dash cam reveals county auditor in handcuffs

Posted: Updated:

CANFIELD, Ohio - There's new information Friday evening about the investigation into how the Mahoning County Sheriff's department handled a traffic citation against Mahoning County Auditor Michael Sciortino.

21 News obtained the dash cam video taken by a Canfield Police cruiser when deputies pulled Sciortino's car over on route 224 the night of May 26.

The video shows a handcuffed Sciortino being led to a sheriff's car.

Sheriff Jerry Green tells 21 News that a member of his command staff drove Sciortino home from the traffic stop.

Greene says that is not standard department procedure. Sciortino was charged with violating marked lanes.

Greene tells 21 News that an outside investigation by the Summitt County Sheriff could determine whether the auditor should have been charged with operating a vehicle under the influence.

Sciortino has not returned our calls for comment.
