Raising money in Newton Falls for the battle against cancer

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Mahoning Valley residents are raising money for the fight against cancer at several weekend events.

At Newton Falls High School, 11 teams were taking to the track for that community's Relay for Life Friday night.

An organizer said that they were half way towards their $54,000 goal.  Last year, they raised $52,000 dollars.

"Actually a lot of the money used from the Trumbull County Relay events goes we've got right now a $15 million grant for research at Case.  So a lot of it is for research and education in this area," said event co-chair Terri Baldwin.

The events superhero theme also took some cues from the latest Superman movie released Friday.  Superman describes the "S" as a symbol for hope.
