Warren JFK golfer competing in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Ohio – A Trumbull County high school golfer is getting the chance to put his skills on the links up against some of the best in the country.

Warren JFK junior Ryan Fowler is one of 156 players from around the country competing in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship later this month in California.

Fowler qualified for the tournament after finishing third in the Ohio Junior Golf Championship last week in Cincinnati.

The championships begin on July 22nd with two rounds of stroke play qualifying.

Fowler admits it's the opportunity of a lifetime to play on this stage.

"Most of the top kids that play golf will be there. So I'll have a good chance to see what it's like playing with them. I'll have the practice round so I'll get to see the course a lot better. I should be alright with it," Fowler said.
