YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - One woman was injured in a single car accident on the Madison Avenue expressway.

Fire crews and police responded to reports of a vehicle flipped on to its side Monday evening.  A police officer used an extinguisher from his cruiser to put out a fire that erupted inside the SUV.

Jerry Green, who was a witness to the accident, told 21 news, "I happen to look over the bridge and saw a gray SUV and it swerved as it went around the corner and it fishtailed. It hit the guard rail and flipped over.  When I got on the scene, the lady was hanging out the front windshield and she was pretty bloody."

The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital where she was being treated for possible leg injuries.

The name of the victim is not yet available.
