YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency have arrested a woman in Campbell for her alleged part in a major drug conspiracy  in Puerto Rico.

DEA agents say Nilsa Sanchez-Rivera was taken into custody early Wednesday at a residence on Jackson Street.

Sanchez-Rivera is charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.

According to a federal indictment, Sanchez-Rivera and 28 other people operated a  sophisticated drug dealing operation in the Gutier Benitez Public Housing Project in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

Investigators say the suspects used lookouts and walkie talkies to conduct an operation that manufactured and distributed cocaine, heroin, marijuana, Xanax and Oxycodone in the housing project. 

Sanchez-Rivera is identified in the indictment as a seller and a facilitator for the drug trafficking  organization.  The suspect allegedly allowed sellers into her apartment in order to sell drugs.

DEA officials in Youngstown or Puerto Rico could not tell 21 News how long Sanchez-Rivera had been in the valley, nor why she was here.

Sanchez-Rivera is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing before a federal Magistrate in U.S. District Court in Youngstown on Monday afternoon.
