AKRON, Ohio - Allied Waste has dropped a federal lawsuit that was filed against the Teamsters union during this past spring's walkout against the trash hauler.
Members of the local began a work stoppage at Allied on March 28 in a contract dispute, causing delays in trash and recycling pickup in several valley communities for nearly a month.
Allied filed the suit in April claiming that members of the Teamsters local 377 of Youngstown picketed Allied Waste of Toledo in support of the strike here in the Valley in violation of federal labor law.
Allied Waste originally asked a judge to award Allied Waste unspecified damages.
The walkout ended in late April when both sides agreed to negotiate.
According to a document filed in U.S. District Court on Wednesday, both sides have agreed to dismiss the complaint and be responsible for their own legal costs.
