YOUNGSTOWN Ohio - At one time or another on Thursday, three members of a Canfield family, including a Poland Middle School teacher, were in the Mahoning County Jail.

According to public information available on the county sheriff's web site, 45-year old Frank R. Consiglio of 3900 Mercedes Place, Canfield was booked into the jail on charges of robbery and drug possession.

Consiglio's arrest came on the same day his wife, Poland Middle School teacher Irene Consiglio, was arraigned on charges of complicity to commit robbery and fleeing and eluding police.

The 46-year-old woman, who according to court records has the same address as Frank R. Consiglio, was arrested Wednesday night following a brief pursuit by Boardman Police.

According to a police report, a witness identified Irene Consiglio as the driver of a getaway car used in the Wednesday evening robbery of a 67-year old woman in the parking lot of the Sandwich Factory restaurant on Market Street in Boardman.

The victim told police that she was knocked to the ground by a white male who stole her purse.

When police pulled Irene Consiglio's car over on Route 224 near Mill Creek Park shortly after the robbery, Consiglio drove away, and the officer pursued in his cruiser.

Police say when Irene Consiglio pulled into the parking lot of a shopping plaza on Lockwood Boulevard, the passenger door of the car opened, and a white male jumped out and ran into a wooded area behind the plaza.

Officers searched the woods, but only found the man's hat and jacket.

The stolen purse, containing credit cards, checks and $900 in cash was found under the seat of Irene Consiglio's car.

Online court records show that her husband was arrested Thursday by Boardman Police on a warrant issued by the county court. The court record does not indicate when Frank R. Consiglio will be arraigned.

Poland School Superintendent David Janofa tells 21 News that  Irene Consiglio is a special education teacher and track coach at the middle school.

Jonafa says Consiglio has been with the district for thirteen years.

The superintendent says Consiglio has not been in school for a couple of weeks, and would not be in the classroom on Friday.

Although Mahoning County Jail records no longer show Irene Consiglio as a jail inmate, a third Consiglio has been locked up since September 20.

Frank J. Consiglio II, who lists the same Canfield address as Frank R. and Irene Consiglio, is booked on charges of theft, obstructing official business, driving under suspension, having expired license plates, receiving stolen property, and criminal damaging.

On September 19, The Mahoning County grand jury indicted the younger Consiglio on a charge of receiving stolen property.

His trial is scheduled for October 28.
