Great Groceries: Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

2 (10.75 oz.) cans cream of chicken soup

1 cup water

1 onion, chopped

1/2 cup shredded carrots

3 stalks celery, chopped

4 Tbsp. butter, cut into chunks

1/2 tsp. freshly ground pepper

1 cup milk

1 (16 oz.) can biscuits, each biscuit cut into quarters

Add one can of cream of chicken soup to the bottom of slow cooker and spread around. Sprinkle half the diced onions, carrots and celery on top of the soup. Add chicken breasts and water. Spread remaining can of soup over top of chicken breasts. Top with butter chunks and add remaining onion, celery and carrots. Season with pepper. Cover and cook on high for 5 hours.

Remove chicken and shred. Add shredded chicken back in and stir in milk. Add biscuit pieces overtop and cook 1 more hour or until center of biscuits are cooked.
