West Branch Schools to put levy on May ballot

BELOIT, Ohio - West Branch Local Schools plan to put a levy on the May ballot.
The amount and length of the levy have not yet been determined.
The school board will submit information to the state explaining how much money they believe the district needs.
The Department of Taxation will then determine the rates at which an income or property tax should be presented to voters.
“You have to ask the Department of Taxation how much will millage or income tax, how much will that raise for our district. Then we have to be thoughtful about that and say okay, this is what we want to put on the ballot to raise the amount of money we believe we need,” said Scott Weingart, Superintendent West Branch Local Schools
The superintendent believes the district needs an additional two million dollars annually.
A proposed income tax to raise the money was defeated by voters in November.
