Pulaski Township supervisors approve more well permits

Posted: Updated:

PULASKI TOWNSHIP, Pa. - As fracking continues in Pulaski Township, supervisors approved permits for thirteen more horizontal wells Wednesday night.

Twelve of the new wells will be drilled on Maple Lane and the other one will be on Cheriwood Road.

A Hilcorp representative says a sound study will be conducted before drilling at the Cheriwood Road location near Route 422 and then sound barriers will be installed.

Supervisors approved conditions that include limiting light pollution.

During the meeting, one of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary from the Villa Maria set the record straight that they are not allowing drilling on the 761 acre property.

Sister Barbara O'Donnell said "but I'm here to say I remain very disturbed that the landsmen told our neighbors we had signed. We had neighbors who told us they signed because the sisters had signed."

Other concerns were raised about four contaminated water complaints with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) from previous wells.
