YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A long-time proponent for the legalization of marijuana in Ohio says he's taking a new approach on the matter.

State Representative Bob Hagan says he wants to focus on legalizing medical marijuana.

He told WFMJ Weekend Today that the cannabidiol (CBD) chemical that helps with epilepsy and seizures is driving Ohioans to move to Colorado where marijuana is legal.

"I introduced something that just basically says we're going to do what we can in Ohio to discover the value of the CBD, legalize that, treat these young kids, making sure that we cure them, or at least reduce the amount of seizures. The fear that I have is we're going to see an incredible amount of people leaving our state. That's not what we want to do," Hagan said.

Hagan says since changing his approach, he's seen more support from his colleagues on both sides of the aisle.
