Columbiana High School locked down

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIANA, Ohio - Columbiana County High School was placed on lock down just before the noon hour Wednesday.

Superintendent Donald Mook tells 21 News that school resource officers took the action after a man came into the school asking to use the rest room at around 11:20 a.m.

Instead of signing in and using the facilities near the main office, the man went into the building.

Police were called to search the school.

The lock down was lifted after the man could not be located.

Police still are reviewing security video in an attempt to learn the identity of the man.

Superintendent Mook says the students or staff were not in any danger.

Authorities are also investigating a report that the man may have defecated in a trash can in the school building.
