Mahoning County shows support for air show

Posted: Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Mahoning County is doing it's part to bring an air show back to the valley.

County Commissioners passed a resolution on Thursday supporting a $5,000 grant from the Visitor's Bureau to the Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council.

The council is responsible for raising nearly $300,000 to bring the 2014 Thunder Over the Valley Air Show to the air base this spring.

The council has until late this month to raise the money.

The Thunder Over the Valley air show is scheduled May 17 and 18.

As many as 70,000 people are expected to take in the show each day to view such attractions as the Air Force Thunderbirds, who were last here in 2009.
