Anti-fracking charter amendment defeated for third time

Posted: Updated:

Voters in Youngstown had a third chance at deciding whether or not to adopt a Community Bill of Rights. This was a charter amendment related specifically to the oil and gas industry and a ballot initiative to ban fracking in the the city limits.

Tuesday night, voters spoke for the third time and defeated the anti-fracking charter amendment, 3,674 to 3,100.

The Community Bill of Rights has been defeated twice before at the polls.

Supporters of Frack Free Mahoning Valley had hoped the recent earthquakes in Poland would change residents minds about the amendment.
