Casino-bound Pa. bus erupts in flames, 21 escape

Posted: Updated:
READING, Pa. (AP) - Luck was on the side of some would-be gamblers before they even got to the casino.

WFMZ-TV says 21 people, including the driver, managed to escape their casino-bound bus after it caught fire around 8 a.m. Friday on Route 222 in Ontelaunee Township, Berks County.

The driver quickly pulled off the highway as flames consumed the rear of the bus, where the fire appeared to have started. So far, investigators have not determined the cause.

Another bus was called in to pick up the passengers so that they could continue on their journey to the Mohegan Sun casino in the Poconos.
