Clear Channel Radio Youngstown makes cuts

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - For the first time in 88 years, there is no longer independent radio news in Youngstown.

Clear Channel, which owns NewsRadio 570 WKBN and other local stations, has made cuts including news director Jim Michaels' position. He was the only news person left at the station.

Michaels worked there for 30 years.

    Ohio high court allows direct appeal of rejected DNA testing

    The Ohio Supreme Court is allowing offenders sentenced to death to appeal directly to the high court when an application for DNA testing is rejected. The new rule adopted by the court Monday resulted from a decision last year in which the court declared part of a state law unconstitutional for limiting appeals by death row inmates seeking DNA tests.
