Boardman police investigate reported hit and run crash

State troopers believe alcohol may have been a factor in a two car accident that literally turned into a hit-and-run crash.
The Ohio Highway Patrol tells 21 News that 33-year-old Morgan Birbeck of East Liverpool jumped out of the drivers seat and ran away, after his car turned into the path of another car at the intersection of Shields and Tippecanoe Roads Monday afternoon.
Acting on a tip that Birbeck was hiding in a nearby back yard, officers took him into custody, then transferred him to a local hospital for treatment of a minor head injury.
The driver of the other car wasn't hurt, but a passenger received medical treatment for a minor injury.
Troopers say they believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident. No charges have been filed yet.
