New homes sought for dogs taken from Warren home

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio - The Warren City Dog Warden and police officers went to a home on Tuesday morning after receiving calls of concern about animals there.

When the homeowner answered the door at the corner of Oak Street and Nevada Street, a small confrontation occurred.

As officials were leaving, the dogs from the home were let loose, according to Kerry Pettite, executive director of the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County.

"They were completely flea infested. Just literally crawling and bouncing with fleas, a lot of hair loss and definitely neglected in that manner." said Pettite.

Twelve dogs were rounded up and taken to the Trumbull County Dog Pound. The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County is now housing four of the dogs, which officials are hoping will be adopted.

Investigators anticipate that charges will be filed in the case.
