Champion man sent to prison for knife attack on wife

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio - In spite of begging a judge to keep him out of prison, a Champion man has been sentenced to six years for violently attacking his wife with a knife.

The cut on her thigh shared in court shows only the physical scar Rebecca Dellick says she suffered, following the October 2013 attack that now has her living in fear. "I truly fear for my life and the safety of my children." Rebecca Dellick told the court.

Rebecca and Christopher were headed toward divorce at the time she returned to their home October 17th to gather some personal belongings.

The prosecution believes Dellick tried to kill her that evening and make it appear her death was a suicide.

"I went to my home simply to get a few items for my daughter and myself." said Rebecca Dellick. "I did not realize that i would be fighting for my life."

Despite his conviction on charges of felonious assault and trespassing, Dellick insists he's an innocent man and begged Judge Andrew Logan to not lock him up any longer.

He says he's not a monster. "I would never want harm to come to come to any of my daughters and in turn, I would never harm another's daughter, as I'm being accused and convicted of." said Christopher Dellick.

The prosecution urged Judge Logan to protect Rebecca from future harm by imposing the maximum sentence, but Judge Logan decided on a shorter, but what he termed substantial six year sentence that fit the crime.
