LIBERTY TWP, Ohio - Investigators from the state fire marshal's office have ruled the cause of a blaze at an abandoned hotel in Liberty Twp as arson.

Fire crews have responded to the fire in the abandoned Day's Inn on Motor Inn Drive on Saturday.

Crews from both Liberty and Girard responded. A plume of smoke could be seen from Belmont Avenue, as firefighters battled the blaze.

The fire has been deemed too dangerous for firefighters to enter the building and crews let one wing of the building burn down on Sunday.

Liberty's fire chief said the hotel is the same as the one that previously caught fire due to arson.

Liberty Township administrator Pat Ungaro tells 21 News that the property was set to be foreclosed on next month.
