Annual pizza cook-off to help local school

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - Over a thousand people got a slice of pie Sunday night, and all to help out a local school.
Approximately 1,300 people came out to Mr. Anthony's in Boardman to load up on pizza and raise money for Potential Development Schools.
The 60-year old organization helps children with autism from preschool through high school.
The sixth annual pizza cook-off saw almost a dozen different pizzerias showcasing their prized pizzas to help raise money for the school.
Officials with the school say the tickets for the cook-off, which sold for $15, sold out in 11 days.
"It makes a huge difference. Our students don't always have the ability to pay for their services and last year we made $54,000 on this event. And it ensures that everyone with autism has an opportunity to come to our schools," said Shellie Duchek, from Potential Development Schools.
The local pizzerias competed in the categories of non-red, traditional, gourmet, brick oven and people's choice.
