CINCINNATI (AP) - The Ohio River is expected to return to lower levels after rain and melting snow caused flood conditions over the weekend.

The river rose to 53 feet Sunday, a foot higher than the official flood stage level. Several establishments along the river reported flooding and water damage.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports authorities closed several roadways over the weekend in downtown Cincinnati and in Campbell County, Kentucky due to the flooding.

Greater Cincinnati has received nearly 5 inches of snow this month. Typically the area gets less than 1 inch by this time in March.

The National Weather Service cancelled its flood warning for the area Monday morning, but warned that heavy rain expected later in the week could lead to additional flooding problems.
