21 News speaks with mom of girl who died in Youngstown fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - There is still no word yet on what caused the fatal fire that killed ten-year-old Corinne Gump and her grandparents at their home in Youngstown.
Up until now, Corinne's mother has not spoken to reporters about the fire.
She admits she doesn't have any proof. But she shared her opinions with reporter Glenn Stevens. Here is a transcript of an extended excerpt of Glenn's interview with Lynn Schmidt:
LYNN SCHMIDT: I don't believe it was an accident, in my opinion. But I'm praying that the police can find what really caused the fire because I do not believe it was accidental, and especially on the day my daughter was going to testify in the rape trial. I hope they find him.
GLENN STEVENS: Do you hope that the rape trial proceeds?
LYNN SCHMIDT: Yes.
GLENN STEVENS: Can you tell us one thing? Why were you at Robert's house?
LYNN SCHMIDT: I can't go into that. It's because of all of the other… I can't go into the rest of that.
GLENN STEVENS: Now you were concerned about her safety.
LYNN SCHMIDT: He said that he would not kill me because he wanted me to suffer as much as he was going to suffer for going to jail. And he would make sure it was a way that we would suffer and I guess his way was my parents and my daughter. But if we don't have the proof then.. I'm just praying they find some proof and that's all I can say.
