Police found and apprehended a Warren man who was wanted for molesting a girl as young as nine-years-old in Portage County.

Keith McCarty, 46, was taken into custody without incident by the Portage County Sheriffs Office.

He was found in a vehicle in the Lordstown area at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The Sheriffs Office say they worked the investigation in collaboration with the Lordstown Police Department and the United States Marshal Service.

In May, McCarty was handed a 24 count indictment for alleged crimes occurring between October, 2005 and April, 2009.  The indictment included charges of rape, gross sexual imposition, sexual battery, and unlawful contact with a minor.

McCarty pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual battery in May and faced five years in prison.  However, he had been on the run after leaving the courthouse before his June 29th sentencing.

McCarty will be held in the Portage Jail without bond until his next hearing.  His court date is yet to be scheduled.
