Detective John Headley with the East Liverpool Police Department was in shock.

"Really have no answers as to why this happened," said Headley.

The body of 44 year old Steven House was found inside his pickup truck at the bottom of the Ohio River Thursday. Headley knew House well.

"He was born and raised here in East Liverpool, good guy, you know. Had a wife, two kids, went to work 5 days a week, just all around good guy," he said.

House was reported missing Monday when his estranged wife says he didn't pick up his kids or go to work.

Two witnesses say they saw a vehicle go off the Jennings Randolph Bridge early Saturday morning around 3:30 a.m. Search teams then began looking for that vehicle.

It wasn't until 4:30 Wednesday when sonar images located something under the bridge. The search was called off however because of darkness. Thursday morning, search teams were back on the water and a dive team was called in.

"They took more images this morning to reconfirm and then they sent the divers into the water and actually locate the truck and then confirm the registration off of it," said Chris Wade with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department.

Not only did the divers find the Chevy Silverado owned by House, but also his body inside the cab. A large crane was brought in to hoist the truck out of the river.

With the search over, the investigation is just beginning. It will be handled by the East Liverpool Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff's Department which is located in West Virginia. The Columbiana County coroner's office will handle the autopsy.
