Lawrence County woman rescued from burning home

Posted: Updated:
MAHONING TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

An ninety-year-old woman was rescued from a burning duplex early in Lawrence County Thursday morning.

Firefighters tell us the woman woke up to the smell of smoke in the West Main Street home, and called her son-in-law, who rushed to the scene to pull her to safety.

First responders say they could see flames covering the back portion of the home when they arrived on the scene.

Nearly half a dozen fire departments from surrounding communities in Pennsylvania and Ohio were called in to help fight the fire.

No one was injured.

Authorities have not yet made an official determination of what caused that fire. Investigators suspect that an electric heater may be to blame.
