YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

For the first time since 2009, Ursuline and Cardinal Mooney could have conference affiliation in the North Coast Conference, which is an all private school league.

21 Sports has learned a meeting is scheduled tomorrow that could add the two local schools.

A source tells 21 Sports that the conference reached out to both Mooney and Ursuline.

The conference currently has 12 members. The Blue Division includes Cleveland Benedictine, Akron Hoban, Walsh Jesuit, Mentor Lake Catholic, Notre Dame Cathedral Latin and Parma Padua.  The White Division includes Villa Angela St. Joe, Cleveland Central Catholic, Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas, Garfield Heights Trinity, Warren JFK and Valley Christian.

21 Sports has learned that Akron Saint Vincent Saint Mary and University School are also under consideration.

The new league, if approved, could start as early as in the fall of 2017 and would be for football only, with the possibility of expanding to other sports.
