Supreme Court urged to reject appeal from teen suspect in Niles murder
The Trumbull County Prosecutor is asking the Ohio Supreme Court to reject an appeal from a Niles teenager accused of killing an elderly neighbor.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Trumbull County Prosecutor is asking the Ohio Supreme Court to reject an appeal from a Niles teenager accused of killing an elderly neighbor.
On Wednesday, Prosecutor Dennis Watkins filed a memorandum of opposition to the appeal filed by Jacob Larosa's attorneys who are challenging a decision to put the sixteen-year-old on trial as an adult.
Larosa is charged with the murder of his 94-year old neighbor Marie Belcastro on March 31, 2015.
The defense has already lost a bid in the appellate court to overturn the ruling of a juvenile court judge to treat the offense as an adult crime.
Watkins writes in his memorandum that the lower court's decision is not appealable, and that Larosa should wait until after his trial to file any appeal.
Larosa’s trial is scheduled for September 19.
