Ohio launched a campaign aimed at helping 15 of the hardest hit counties fight the use of fentanyl.

It came as a surprise that Trumbull and Mahoning counties were left out.

During March this year in Trumbull County, 11 out of the 15 people who died due to drug use, were casualties of fentynal.

Mahoning has also seen a spike.

The Deputy Coroner says the drug is often mixed in with heroin but is more deadly. “This is a drug that if you experiment, you die. It's that potent, said MD Joseph Ohr.

Those leading the fight against drug deaths say up-to-date data should be used.

“The fact that they looked at 2014 data surprises me because we do have 2015 data for our country and out coroner stays up on that stuff and had 2016 data and when you look at that, our numbers are skyrocketing,” says Lauren Thorp of Trumbull Mental Health and Recovery Board.

Warren County, which is receiving help, had 10 people die in 2014 due to fentanyl.

Trumbull County, which was left out, is expected to have up to 17 deaths due to fentanyl in just 2 months this year.
