Bestiality now a first-degree misdemeanor in Warren
The city of Warren became the first city in the state to pass legislation making bestiality illegal.

WARREN, Ohio - The city of Warren became the first city in the state to pass legislation making bestiality illegal.
A case against Salvadore Rendon brought to light the need to pass laws protecting animals.
Rendon is accused of performing sex acts on two dogs that he owned.
Ohio remains only one of about 13 states left in the country that doesn't have any laws against having sex with animals.
Legislation passed unanimously making bestiality a first degree misdemeanor.
“I'm very proud to say that Warren was on the forefront of creating legislation and getting it in place that protected our animals,” said Ed Colbert, Warren councilman.
Anyone convicted will face jail time, fines, psychological counseling and would not be allowed to own animals.
