Ohio Governor John Kasich has plans to be in and around Cleveland during the week of the Republican National Convention, but whether or not he'll walk inside the convention hall is still uncertain.

"It would not be accurate at this point to say the governor won't be at the official convention, that simply hasn't been decided yet," Chris Schrimpf said, Kasich's communications advisor.

Schrimpf tells 21 News that the second term governor isn't likely to take the podium if he does attend.

"We have not sought nor are we expecting a speaking slot at the convention," he said.

Kasich will attend events focusing on keeping his fellow Republicans in office during the week of the RNC.

In an exclusive interview with 21 News, Kasich talked about the fact that he has yet to endorse the GOP's presumptive nominee.

"In Regard to Mr. Trump, as I've said, I need to see a dramatic change in the way in which he approaches things and if he doesn't, I can't support him," he said.

Team Kasich is touting new poll numbers, which show the Ohio governor as a stronger contender against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton instead of Donald Trump.

John Weaver, chief strategist for the Kasich Campaign, released the numbers and weighed in on the presidential race in an email on Wednesday.

“This data is just further proof that Governor Kasich is the most popular Republican politician in the nation today and it underlines why his efforts to help our U.S. Senate and House candidates are so very important,” Weaver said in an email to Kasich supporters.
