The Lordstown High School Political History Club is going on the road again. This time, club members will be in Cleveland for the Republican National Convention.

Members of the club have a strong interest in politics. They also attended the Presidential debate in Cleveland and traveled to the Iowa caucuses. Lordstown Superintendent Terry Armstrong has arranged for three days of activities surrounding the RNC.

"We're going to an event that Mike DeWine, the Attorney General, has invited the students to on Sunday. There's going to Ohio delegates there that are going to be participating in the convention," said Armstrong.

Senior Josie Toporcer says she wants to be an informed voter.

"It's all about information for me, I want to make the best decision I can because I get to vote this year, and it's very important," Toporcer said.

Chase Weiland says it's very interesting because they were there when the Iowa caucuses started the primary season.

"We started at the beginning, and now we're going all the way through and I think that's really good," said Weiland.

Armstrong says the students will also take a side trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but it, too, is politically related.

"The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has something called 'Louder Than Words' right now. It's about how politics intersects with society and rock and roll music, it's a great exhibit," Armstrong said.

The students’ activities and meetings won't be inside the convention center and they're hoping there won't be any trouble.

"I'm kind of a little scared to see what's going to go down in Cleveland, but I'm excited too," said Weiland.

The superintendent says if there is any sort of trouble with demonstrators or anything else the trip will be canceled.
