MINERAL RIDGE, Ohio - A teacher and coach in the Weathersfield School System faces criminal charges for allegedly secretly recording a former member of his track team as she was undressing.

Forty-five-year-old Matthew K. Blair was indicted Thursday by the Mahoning County Grand Jury on charges of intercepting wire or electronic communications, possessing criminal tools, and voyeurism.

The first two charges are felonies, the third is a misdemeanor.

Blair is the girl's track coach and a seventh and eighth grade science teacher at Mineral Ridge High School.

Prosecutors say a woman in her early 20's was at Blair's Mineral Ridge home in May, when Blair allegedly used a clock radio equipped with a spy camera to record video of the woman when she was nude.

Investigators say Blair knew the woman from when she was on the Mineral Ridge track team, and describe his relationship with her as a father figure.

Prosecutors say they consider the camera-equipped radio a criminal tool because it was used in the commission of a crime.

Weathersfield School Superintendent Damon Dohar tells 21 News that Blair is about to start his sixteenth year with the school system and  he has never received a complaint about the teacher.

State Department of Education Records also show no previous disciplinary action against Blair.

It will be up to the school board to decide the status of Blair in the coming school year.
