Human remains were found in a shallow grave in Shenango Township, just off of Route 318 in Mercer County.

More than 30 investigators with Shenango Township, Sharon and Pennsylvania State Police have been flooding every inch of the rural land looking for answers since 1:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The large piece of property at the center of the investigation belongs to a man neighbors say likes to keep to himself.

"It's a little scary knowing something like this happened. We always felt safe here," said neighbor Ryan Siege.

The usually quiet stretch of West Middlesex Road has sparked a lot of curiosity in the small town.

"Twenty to 30 cars that have stopped right in front of our driveway and right in front of his driveway taking pictures of everything," said Siege.

Siege doesn't know what prompted investigators to converge onto his neighbor's property, but believes it may have something to do with some uninvited guests.

"There's a house back there that is on his property, from my understanding. The individual that had lived there prior had passed and they moved in afterward and were actually squatting inside the house," said Siege.

Neighbors explain that the large property has a couple houses and several other shack-like buildings; even a small road system connecting it all.

Neighbors are confident the man who owns the land is innocent.

"The gentleman that lives beside us, Bucky, he is a great guy he would give you the shirt off his back," said Siege.

But, ever since others settled onto his property neighbors say they've seen huge bon fires and hear gun shots at all hours.

"I know it's not Bucky our neighbor. I spoke with him. I asked him, 'Hey if that's you can you stop? He's like, it's not me, it's the people living back there without permission," explained Siege.

Neighbors say that while the discovery has them feeling a little uneasy, they are confident that if there was any lingering danger police would have notified them.
