YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Preliminary findings by the Mahoning County Coroner indicate that 17-year-old Javier Arter shot his mother, then turned the gun on himself according to Youngstown Police.
The coroner is still investigating the deaths of the teen and 49-year-old Bianca Arter, whose bodies were found Saturday at their Volney Road home on Youngstown's South Side.
Investigators tell 21 News that the mother and son had not been seen by neighbors since last Tuesday.
Police, who revealed over the weekend that the coroner is investigating the deaths as an apparent murder and suicide, have not revealed a suspected motive behind the incident.
The coroner is expected to conduct autopsies on Tuesday.
