YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Until the person suspected of shooting and wounding a Youngstown firefighter is found,  police will be escorting the fire department as they answer calls in the city.

Which is exactly where they were as crews from the fire department battled a grease fire on Cordova Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

They also went back out to this same scene when the fire department returned a short while later.

Firefighters leaving the scene of an Elm Street house fire Monday night were fired upon along Halleck Street.

Paul Lutton, 46, who was one of the firefighters aboard engine number 7, was wounded in the leg by one of the two bullets that pierced the truck's passenger compartment.

Lutton was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of injuries that police say are not life threatening.

Another bullet cut through the front of the coat of another firefighter, Dwayne Montgomery, who was not injured.

Police say they'll continue to escort firefighters, until the suspect is found.
