Oh Wow! celebrates 6th year in business

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science & Technology has a lot more than a birthday to celebrate this weekend.

Not only is OH WOW! turning 6 years old, officials announced the center is now debt free following a successful Liquidate The Loan Campaign.

"We plan on staying that way with the continued help and support of the community," said Bruce Sherman, Vice President of the center's board of directors. "We'll keep brining 'edutainment' and fun things for our kids to do."

One OH WOW!'s latest "edutainment" exhibits, "Drive to Dance" debuted Saturday morning in partnership with Canfield Local School District's Jacquelyn Nohra Duda.

The exhibit features prosthetic adaptive technologies and how they are designed uniquely for individuals.

Canfield's Nohra Duda was born with a congenital birth defect that she fought her whole life with many surgeries until she developed end stage-arthritis and could no longer walk.

"So the doctors gave me a choice- a wheelchair or a prosthetic leg," said Nohra Duda.

She said she was mortified at first but chose to walk in a new way.

Now Nohra Duda can be seen dancing on the big screen with her prosthetic leg.

"I think the greatest thing this teaches the kids is that a disability can turn into an ability," said Nohra Duda.

For those who didn't make it to the Birthday Bash Saturday, special prices still run through Mother's with free admission for moms.
