YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Youngstown Police say a traffic accident on the city's south side sent one woman and four young children to the hospital Saturday night.

Shortly before 7 p.m. a Chevy Trailblazer was driving southbound in the left lane of South Avenue, near Mabel Avenue, when a tire came loose.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly lost control and struck a utility pole at Emery Avenue.

Police say the driver, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Four children, ages 2,3,5, and 7, were also in the vehicle but not in car seats.

They were also taken to be checked out, but police say they believe the children are okay.

Officers on the scene say neither drugs or alcohol are believed to have played a role in the crash.

It's unknown at this time if the driver will face charges for not having the children secured in car seats.
