Posted: Updated:

Oakland hit a walk-off three-run home run in a 7-5 victory in game one, and the Golden Grizzlies took game two 8-6 to sweep a doubleheader against the Youngstown State baseball team on Sunday at the Oakland Baseball Field.

Youngstown State trailed 3-1 heading into the top of the ninth inning in game one and scored four runs to take a 5-3 lead. Oakland scored all of its runs in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, and Jordan Jackson came off the bench to hit a game-winning, pinch-hit three-run home run as the Golden Grizzlies won 7-5.

YSU led 1-0 and 2-1 in game two, and Oakland scored the final two runs after the Penguins rallied to tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the fifth.

Nico Padovan had two hits and two RBIs in game one, and Evan Cheng went 4-for-4 in game two. Andrew Kendrick increased his school-record home run total to 15, and Trey Bridis hit his career-best seventh round-tripper in game two.

The two victories allowed the Golden Grizzlies to secure a spot over Youngstown State in the Horizon League Tournament. The Penguins conclude conference play with a 9-21 record, and they will have four non-conference games next week to complete the 2017 campaign. YSU will play at Kent State on Tuesday, and the Penguins will host Rider on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Eastwood Field.
