Man reports attack by masked men along Warren street

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio -

Warren police are investigating a report from a man who says he was attacked and slashed by masked men as he walked along a city street.

Officers interviewed the 32-year-old man at Trumbull Memorial Hospital on Wednesday as he was being treated for cuts on his arms, hands, and leg.

The police report describes the injury as a severe laceration.

The victim says four men, all wearing masks, jumped out of an SUV as he was walking along York Ave.NW near West Market Street at around 2:30 a.m.

He says three of the men attacked him, one of them using a knife in the assault.

The man says he pushed the men away and was able to get far enough away from the attackers until a passerby picked him up and took him to the hospital.

The victim told police he doesn't know why he was attacked but surmises that the motive may have been robbery.
