Parents looking over lists of school supplies and contemplating spending hundreds of dollars on new school clothing for their children can save a few bucks this weekend.

Ohio's annual Tax-Free Weekend runs now through Sunday night, just before midnight.

The three-day reprieve from sales tax on clothes and school supplies was designed to help families with the increasing cost of sending kids back to school.

An annual survey on back-to-school shopping predicts Americans will spend more the $27 billion on clothes, uniforms, and supplies for their kids.

The Deloitte study estimates families will spend almost $500 per child.

The tax-free weekend will offer tax breaks for clothing items priced at $75 per item or less, school supplies priced at $20 per item or less, and school instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.

There is no limit on the amount of the total purchase, the tax discounts apply to each individual item.

Items used in a trade or business are not exempt under the sales tax holiday.

Valley retailers such as the Southern Park and Eastwood malls say they are gearing up for the extra traffic over the tax holiday weekend.

Those who are planning their Back-to-School shopping trip for Saturday, August 5 will have the chance to meet some of their favorite superheroes from The Justice League at the Eastwood Mall.

Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman will be visiting Eastwood Mall that day that day from 11 am to 5 pm.  Children wearing their favorite superhero will have the chance to win a gift card.
