Muscle Connection H.S. Football Preview: Crestview Rebels

Posted: Updated:

For the first time in a long time, the Crestview football program is playing as an independent.

The Rebels are ready for the challenges week in and week out.

"More than anything, would be the number of new opponents that we have and not being familiar with that. So our guys are going to have to focus week to week, not looking ahead. Not playing for a league title is going to be a little different. So our goals are going to adjust a little bit, but ultimately want to win on Friday night and that's going to be the goal," said coach Paul Cusick

The Rebels are coming off a 3-7 season and return six starters on each side of the ball. Dakota Stratton at middle linebacker and Caleb Hill at quarterback. In addition, Andrew Horson is coming back at running back. He was a 1,000-yard rusher. Dominic Berry is up front and will lead the offensive and defensive lines.

Cusick said, "We got a lot of good players coming back."

They have only eight seniors with experience. "Well, fortunately, those younger guys had to play a lot last year. They got a baptism by fire last year. They should be ready to go this year.  They had a big learning curve last year. They need to step up and realize it's their time.  I think we want to get back to having a winning record and we want to get back to week 11. That's the goal of our program every year." said Cusick
