WRTA seeks levy renewal for November ballot

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Western Reserve Transit Authority is seeking a levy renewal for the November ballot.

The WRTA filed to place a 1/4 percent sales tax renewal. There are not any new taxes associated with the levy, it is a renewal of an existing tax.

The sales tax is the largest source of revenue for their budgets.

According to WRTA, if the levy doesn't pass then they will no longer be able to use available federal and state funding. Without the levy, WRTA services would cease and it would take away the reliable way most riders get to their jobs, doctor appointments, or grocery stores.

The levy funds the means to meet the needs of the residents in the valley.

WRTA believes the needs are likely to grow.
