YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown firefighters were put to the task to save a dog stuck on a roof on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials on the scene say a neighbor called 911 after spotting a dog outside on a second story balcony on the 100 block of East Judson Avenue.

Animal Charity, who had humane agents on the scene, say that they believe the puppy had been left on the locked balcony for more than a week.

Agents say there was no food or water anywhere near the dog, and that the small balcony was very dirty.

Firefighters were able to get into the home, and open the door to the balcony, and let the dog back in.

Animal Charity say the dog, who they think is about 10-11-months-old, was thirsty and is a little thin, but appears to be in good spirits.

The pup will stay in the care of Animal Charity until it can be determined who the owner is, and if he should be returned to them. If it's determined that the owner can't or won't take the dog back he will eventually be put up for adoption.

At this time, no charges have been filed.
