SALEM, Ohio -

Salem police answered a distress call from a resident reporting that she came home to find a pig on her porch.

According to police, they were called to a home on Edgewood Drive Tuesday night where a woman said she found the pig waiting.

Patrolman Brandon Smith arrived on the scene to find the woman still inside her car.

The pig seemed pretty friendly, according to Smith.

After a bit of investigation, it was determined that the pig was someone's pet that had escaped from a home about a block away in Perry Township where ordinances don't prohibit pig ownership.

“Louis”, as they found out later is the name of the pig, was returned to its owner.
