A popular Mexican chain restaurant is looking to make happy hour a little happier in Trumbull County.

Chipotle Restaurants has applied for a liquor permit for a building on the corner of Elm Road and Millennium Boulevard in Bazetta.

Township Trustee Ted Webb says that the trustees voted Monday not to contest the permits for a liquor license.

But the chain has applied for two different liquor permits with the state of Ohio.

According to the Department of Commerce, the Cortland Chipotle has applied for one license that would allow them to sell beer for consumption in the restaurant, and for carry out in sealed containers until 1 a.m.

The second permit would allow the restaurant to sell "spirituous liquor" for on-site consumption until 1 a.m.

Webb tells 21 News that the Chipotle would be a free-standing building to the left of a plaza at the Elm Road intersection.

However, Webb says the restaurant has not yet applied for any other type of permits, including zoning or building.
