YSU freshman makes impressive debut

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Youngstown State University Freshman running back Christian Turner made a great first impression at Heinz Field in the Penguins overtime loss Saturday.

Turner scored twice in the fourth quarter to help the red and white rally from a 21-0 deficit.

He was a good option out of the backfield, catching five passes for 124 yards and rushed for 32 on three attempts.

Playing at Cincinnati La Salle High School made it easy for him transition to the college game.

"My high school football team faced a lot adversity," said Turner. "We won three state championships, the stage wasn't like too big. I was kind of use to it, a big setting, big games. I was nervous at the beginning of the game because it was my first college game. As the game went on, I got more comfortable."
